Kanopy Dance Guest Stars in
the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra’s
Production of
Masterworks III : Regeneration
February 27, 2026, at 7:30 PM
Dan Cavanagh Trio & Kanopy Dance Company
Capitol Theatre, Overture Center for the Arts
Universal rhythms explored through music and movement – weaving together themes of transformation and the endless cycle of renewal. This powerful concert presents “Please Let There Be a Paradise” by Grammy-nominated composer Angel Lam. A hauntingly beautiful journey and reflection on love and loss, it sets the stage for the world premiere of “Concerto for Jazz Trio” by Dan Cavanagh, Director of the UW Mead Witter School of Music that blends contemporary jazz with the spirit of reinvention.
Kanopy Dance is also featured as a guest star in WCO’S Regeneration. Maestro Andrew Sewell flawlessly conducts “Regeneration: A Pentalogy” by local composer Michael M. Bell (Bell) that is accompanied by a breathtaking performance of Robert E. Cleary’s (Cleary) and Lisa Thurrell’s (Thurrell) world premiere choreography, “Renascence”, a deeply expressive journey through the ebb and flow of existence—birth, death, and the beauty that rises anew.
Cleary’s and Thurrell’s inspired choreography artfully moves dancers
like floating sylphs–diaphanous in metallic satins, through exquisitely crafted, ethereal dance moves that mirror the melodic notes of Bell’s symphony in five captivating movements: “Presence”, “Awakening”, “Effervescence”, “Chaos” and “Embrace’.
